New Jersey DT has his eyes on Army
For Hunter Knighton out of the Hun School in Princeton (NJ), he is hoping that his marketability and offers continue on the upward trend.
Presently the 6-foot-6, 265 pound lineman he has offers from UMass and Old Dominion, which he received in late March, but indicated to GoBlackKnights.com, that he is also being heavily recruited by Yale, Pitt, Rutgers, and Boston College.
However, when it comes to the Black Knights, Knighton had this to offer.
"I spoke to Coach McKeehan (Gene) the other night," shares Knighton. "He said he or Coach Waugh (Tucker) should be coming through this spring and that they were highly impressed with my tape."
"I am trying to see what my schedule looks like for a visit (Army). I may have to go up this summer to West Point ... most likely in late May to check out the school. I am definitely interested in Army and they seem very interested in me, so I am expecting an offer from them."
The Garden State prospect has yet to reveal if there is a school or more atop his list and it appears that he is keeping his options open.
"Right now I'm looking at all schools and I think Army would be a great fit and place for me," he declares. "All the service academies in general offer a great opportunity."
Also on Knighton's list of school is the state school of New Jersey, Rutgers, who according to Knighton, are showing interest as well.
"They (Rutgers) want to take a look at my frame as well as have me meet with Coach Flood," says Knighton. "I was up at Rutgers for an unofficial and we watched their spring practice. He said they were real interested and wanted me to come back in a few weeks to show me the whole school. I think by the end the spring, they will be able to make a decision on me."
Knighton remains diligent in his workout routine, despite participating in Hun's lacrosse team. "I also workout everyday at 5am lifting with some of the football guys," says Knighton, who is also beginning to schedule his time for upcoming camps and combines.
"My only camp I have scheduled so far is BC. But I will make more decisions later this spring."
