Shawn Lemoto joins Army's 2012 Recruiting Class
You don't have to be a CSI expert to realize that the 2012 Army recruiting class, like those before it and those after will continue to be a work in progress all the way up until Reception Day (R-Day).
Clearly one of the main factors is much remains in process when it comes to admissions, even with R-Day being right around the corner for those entering West Point directly (7/2) or via the USMAPS (7/23).
There is always the possibility that a verbally committed player may not end joining what would have been his future teammates, hence entering the academy.
However, the flip side of the coin is those late arrivals to this year's incoming class and one such player is defensive end Shawn Lemoto out of Encino (Calif.) by the way of Crespi High School.
GoBlackKnights.com caught up with Lemoto on Wednesday to discuss his pledge to the Army Black Knights.
"I committed April 5th", shares the excited 6-foot-3, 240 pound defensive end product, who took time to explain what sold him on becoming a Black Knight. "I just like the overall environment they presented, along the family and support base they have behind Army football."
The prep bound Lemoto officially visited Army the 2nd week of February and his recruiting was handled by Black Knights' defensive coordinator Pay Saadat.
As such, Lemoto did not see Army play live, but did indicated that he took advantage of a couple of their national televised contests. "I watched the games against Navy and Air Force," adds Lemoto, who also had offers extended from New Mexico and Yale.
Like many of his future teammates, Lemoto as connect with several players via the social network and more specifically, Facebook. "Actually, I have talked to the coaches and a couple of the players on the phone as well. I have talked to TJ Tala Atimalala, he's coming out of the prep school. I think he's going to be the premier defensive tackle for them this upcoming season.
Lemoto embraces the brotherhood of West Point and Army football, but like several players that are part of the 2012 recruiting class, he also takes pride in the "Polynesian Connection" that will make up the Army rosters (varsity & prep) this season. "I'm Tonga and it's great how Army has recruited across all the lines," he adds.

Lemoto says he is working hard to get ready for all that will be thrown at him upon his arrival. "I'm really big on aggressiveness and an attack towards the ball," he shares. "I expect a high level of competition but I'm more than up to the task.
Right now I'm doing time miles and have trainer that I work with. I'm doing speed training, along lots of core, balance and squats to get my body stronger."
Lemoto leaves high school with a 3.6 GPA and is a welcome addition to the 2012 Army recruiting class.
