As a offensive lineman, Army's incoming 2012 commit and USMAPS bound, Lofi Tamasese relied on power and explosion to fulfill his duties in the trenches at Daly City (Cali.) Jefferson High School.

Needless to say, Tamasese has worked diligently during the off-season to ensure that the trend continues and that his workouts results were a correlation between football and his upcoming military training.

So when Tamasese, who will walk through the gates of West Point on Sunday at 6-foot-2, 290 pounds, he believes that his preparation will help enhance his performance on the gridiron come this summer and fall.

Therefore from a football perspective, Tamasese chose to narrow his focus this off-season, opting to work on a few major details physically and recharge his batteries for what awaits him at West Point and on the practice field.

"I've been doing the workouts that the coaches from the prep school sent me," shares the big offensive lineman. "But for the past two years I have a personal trainer that I've been working with."

Tamasese trained with Anthony Trucks who is from the Bay area in California, played football for the University of Oregon. Subsequent to college, he was drafted by Tampa Bay Bucs, but ended up with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Like most newcomers into the United States Military Academy, there often is a variety of emotions that accompany this historical rite to passage that is about to take place in the life of student-athletes like Tamasese. "I'm both excited and nervous," says Tamasese as he chuckles at his own response.

"Just that this is something different than what I'm use to. I'm not that familiar with the military stuff, but I'm ready."

Tamasese is projected to play guard or center at the prep school and shared this brief assessment of what the fans can come to expect from him as a player.

"Well my foot work and quickness off the ball are my strong points," he offers. "I move well for my size and I actually look smaller than I am."

Tamasese and his entire family arrived in NYC on Thursday, where they are spending time in lower Manhattan prior to making their way north on Sunday to Tamasese's final destination, West Point.
