June 7, 2012It happened in 2010 as the Army Black Knights and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish anointed the New Yankee Stadium with it's first college football game two years ago.
According to sources, the two historical colleges will go head-to-head in 2013.
There also appears to be talk surrounding the Army making their way to South Bend (Ind.), along with Notre Dame traveling North and playing at Michie Stadium on the campus of West Point.
Presently the Black Knights have October 26th, November 16th and November 23rd open on their 2013 calendar.
According to Pete Sampson of IrishIllustrated.com (Rivals.com), the Fighting Irish have a couple of open dates that coincide with the Black Knights' schedule.
"Right now the Notre Dame schedule has two open dates on it," shares Sampson. "The 12th of October, that's the week before USC would come here (South Bend) and my guess is that they (ND) would keep that open. The the 26th of October, which is the week after USC ... I would think that would be a pretty preferable one."
"Then the 23rd of November, which is the week before Thanksgiving, which wouldn't surprise me, but my hunch is that it will be probably be the 26th (October). The 26th makes the most since Notre Dame would have played six games, they would have a week off, then play USC ... where the Army game would follow USC."
Of course, Notre Dame will have their annual match-up with Navy, which would mean the possibility of the Fighting Irish playing the Black Knights and Midshipmen back to back.
GBK will keep an eye on this story as it unfolds.
