Quotes of the week

"Anytime you play a rival, it's almost like you want to play harder. So recognize that and we know they are going to come out playing hard. Our goal as a defensive is to shut that down. It out there (Colorado) and I was telling some of the guys that it's different out there. Last year some of the guys on Air Force were talking trash and it's going to be a different level when we get out there."

"They try to play the mind games, where they do things like have signs up in the locker room saying it's high altitude. So we're trying to go out there and send a message for the rest of the season. And this game is a stepping stone to get to our goal."

"It's not like that they have any players we hate, we just hate the program {chuckling}." - Army free safety, Geoffery Bacon

"That [Army's 41-21 win over Air Force in 2012] was unexpected. We came out with wrong attitude. Credit Army, they played hard, but that was our mistake. We shouldn't have let that happen." - Air Force fullback, Broam Hart (team's leading rusher)

"It's very important and a win is a win. It doesn't really matter who's its against at this point. It's kind of how it's been all season, but win need to win every possible game and the same holds true to this situation [Air Force] here and this game is just as important as the last and just as important as the next." - Army center, Ryan Powis

"Army is just like us -- they prepare for every game, "They're not going to overlook us -- especially us; especially with what they did to us last year. They're looking to do it again." - Air Force junior linebacker, Joey Nichol (team's leading tackler with 75)

Keys to the game for Army

On defensive, Army is well aware of how dangerous the Air Force style of offense can be. So what are the keys? The Reader's Digest version is that the "D" must read our keys and tackle ... "simple". Therefore, the defense must do their job and get the ball back into the hands of the offense.

As such, when Army has the ball, it will come down to the Black Knights' offensive line versus Air Force's three guys with their hand on the ground. That trio is the strength of the Falcon's defense. Army will need to establish the inside run and work from there.
