Rivals 2-star linebacker Ryan Parker out Chattanooga (TN) by the way of Baylor High School, is one of the incoming freshmen who made our GBK: Top Twelve Incoming Defensive Commits.

As we have pointed out in our previous articles/updates on the hard-hitting linebacker, he held several offers, including Navy and Air Force, along with a possible PWO with Notre Dame before making his commitment to Army.

But this update is less about his gridiron accomplishments and we direct your attention to what Parker has recently accomplished in his “other” sport, which takes place on the wrestling mat.

“I won my 4th state wresting title tonight,” declared an excited Parker, who reached out to GoBlackKnights.com on Saturday with the great news.

What is even equally as impressive is that he finished the season, 51-0.

Of course, GBK was not the only group to hear about Parker’s recent crowning, as he wasted little time letting both the Army football staff and yes, the wrestling coach know the latest.

“Yes sir, Coach [Kevin] Corless called and congratulated me this morning and Coach Dixson sent me a message on Twitter a few days ago ... I'm calling him this afternoon,” stated Parker, who confirmed that he also heard from the Black Knights’ head wrestling coach.

“Yes sir ... Coach [Kevin] Ward texted me before the match to say good luck.”

Going along with his 51-0 record on the season, 39 of those victories were pins, as he wrestled in the 195 pound weight class.

But it’s not over for the soon to be Black Knight, who will be wrestling at the Prep Nationals next weekend at Leigh University.

Of course, at 195 pounds, Parker knows that once the ‘mat’ season concludes, he needs to put his complete attention to getting football ready for his arrival this summer at Army West Point.

“You have to wrestle the weight you won at state and I wrestled 220 pounds for most of the season, but I want to be competitive at Nationals, so I knew I had to go 197 pounds,” explained Parker, who had this to say about when he will begin shifting to football mode. “I have one more goal before heading up. I would like to win another state championship in discus and break the record set by John Hannah in 1969. I was really close last year.”

“After prep next week and I want to come in at 220,” he added. “I plan to start working out with Darrell Wyke at We Sacrifice, We Excel training center in downtown Chattanooga as well as Baylor's trainers.”

Although the direct admit linebacker has been having a great close out to his senior year, he did not hesitate to declare his excitement about making his way up to West Point and starting your football career for the Black Knights and even perhaps wrestling career at the academy.
