Army Football Welcomes Class of 2020
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Third-year Army West Point football head coach Jeff Monken has brought in a recruiting class of 56 athletes participating in Reception Day at West Point today.
The Class of 2020 marks Monken's second full recruiting class and includes players from 20 states.
West Point officially welcomed its newest freshman class on Monday for the start of Cadet Basic Training.
Monken credited the tireless work of his staff for this year’s recruiting class. Eight players are joining the squad from Virginia, six from California and five from Georgia, Maryland and North Carolina. There are four rookies from Texas and three from Illinois. Two athletes have come to West Point from Pennsylvania, Ohio, Massachusetts, Florida, South Carolina, Indiana and Tennessee. Other states with players are Minnesota, Kansas, Hawai’I, Louisiana, New York and Arizona.
Army opens the season on the road at Lincoln Financial Field against Temple on Friday, Sept. 2.
Football will open the home slate on Sept. 10 against Rice with the kickoff set for 12 p.m.
Lafayette and North Texas visit West Point on back-to-back Saturdays. The Leopards and Black Knights are scheduled for a noon kick on Oct. 15 and then the Mean Green take on Army on Oct. 22.
The Army-Air Force will kickoff at noon on Nov. 5 at Michie Stadium and the Black Knights will honor their seniors on Nov. 19 against Morgan State. That game will also start at noon.
