Rivals 2-star cornerback Julian McDuffie talked with GoBlackKnights.com about why the Black Knights were the best fit for him, following his official visit to Army West Point this past weekend and verbal commitment on Sunday.

Coach Davis was my recruiter and I gave my commitment to Coach [Jeff] Monken,” said the 5-foot-11, 170 pound cornerback, whose recruiting has been handled by offensive coordinator, Brent Davis.

“More than anything we talked just about life decisions and opportunities that West Point could provide. We talked little about football the entire time. I decided to make my commitment because it is a place that is a very prestigious and challenging university that can allow me a very hopeful future not just through football and the education. But also through the connections and people I meet on my journey. The combination of the three is simply an offer that I couldn't let pass up.”

“What stood out the most was the community at West Point,” added McDuffie, who plays corner, but hits like a strong safety. “During recruiting, I was always told about how most off the staff and professors lived on campus, but going and actually experiencing it you actually get a feel for the love that goes through the campus. It was also a beautiful place and it was cool to see and hear about the previous West Point graduates and their accomplishments. It was an impressively beautiful campus. The facilities were as good as I've seen”

During his visit, the prospect out of Snellville (GA) Shiloh High School was hosted by sophomore defensive back Jalen Sharp, but he also developed a bond with several of the other prospects on hand. “He [Sharp] was a cool dude, but we really hung out with and was watched over by all the hosts,” McDuffie explained. “I got close to commits Aaron Knowles, Dallas Blacklock, Wally Wilmore, Darius Bracy, Akyah Miranda and Kevin Dominique. Also recruits Levi Lewis and Chris Broadwater.”

McDuffie’s first stop is most likely at the USMAPS, but either way this defensive back is a true impact level player.

Stay tuned as GoBlackKnights.com will have the breakdown of McDuffie’s commitment and the impact his pledge will have on this 2017 recruiting class, so keep it right here as we have you covered with all the latest.
