Black Gold spring game moved back to West Point.

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The United States Military Academy (USMA) Director of Athletics, Boo Corrigan, announced today that the Black Knights' football team will not travel to Fort Hood for its annual Black & Gold Game. The culmination of the spring football season was scheduled to be at Hood Stadium in Killeen, Texas, on March 8.

"Given the timing of the event, we feel it is in the best interests of all Army programs to keep our spring game at West Point this season," Corrigan said.

USMA played its 2012 spring game in front of a sold-out crowd comprised mainly of soldiers and their family members at Fort Benning, Ga.

"We value our relationships with the U.S. Army installations around the country, and will revisit the idea of bringing our spring football game to an Army base next year," Corrigan said.
"It is important to connect our program to the Army as a whole and exposing our cadet athletes to the great Army communities and facilities where they will serve is very important in their leader-development."

The Black Knights began their spring practice on Feb. 12. The team is scheduled to hold 14 spring workouts.
