We have been reporting on how successful (commitments) the recruiting for the Army Black Knights has been for talent at the Front 7-defenders level (D-linemen & Linebackers) for the class of 2018.

But there are still several multi-star linebackers and defensive ends who have offers from the Black Knights and are showing very strong interest in the program.

Our recent articles/updates include a couple of Rivals 3-star prospects in Nick Croawell (DE) and Demitri Washington (DE), along with Wilson Catoe (OLB) and Troy Nachitgal (LB).

Another talented 3-star prospect is linebacker Hayden Bollinger, who was on campus yesterday and brought GoBlackKnights.com up to date on his visit, along with his overall recruiting.

“My day started off with a tour of the facilities and watching highlight video of last year and some videos of the team competing in tug of war,” said Bollinger of the kick-off of his day at West Point as he was given the tour by player personnel, Jansen Petagna. “What stood out to me the most was atmosphere and the attitude the whole campus holds for football.”

“I bumped into John Voit and some of the other players during lunch and being able to talk to them and the character they showed was extremely impressive,” shared the linebacker, who attends Wildwood (MO) Lafayette High School where Voit graduated from.

“The visit definitely exceeded expectations. The facilities, people, education and campus are all first class. The amount of people who stopped and spoke with me and my family really showed the dedication to the football program and love for West Point.”

Bollinger has already camped at Stanford and Arizona State and has plans on camping at the University of Penn today, which he said will be his last trip of the summer. Of course, while making his rounds, the linebacker has been able to compare campuses, and this is what he had to say about the Black Knights’ football facilities.

“Yes we saw everything from the equipment room to the practice facilities to Michie Stadium itself and all of it was amazing,” he told GoBlackKnights.com. “The facilities are on par or better than most Power 5 schools I've seen.”

“I'm very interested. They are currently pushing the hardest in my recruitment and I'm enjoying the whole process. My family and I are actually having a conversation at dinner right now about the idea [committing to Army], but I definitely want to finish my summer before making a decision. The Army staff has made it clear they like me but they aren't rushing me into a commitment. However, they are definitely persuasive and making their case.”

With his interest in the Black Knights comes Bollinger’s keeping his eyes on what is unfolding relative to Army’s 2018 recruiting class, as he confirmed that he has been following the recruiting process.

“Absolutely, and they have been recruiting St. Louis hard and it's great seeing all the athletes they are getting commitments from,” he declared, as he wanted to share exactly what he is looking for in a program.

“I'm looking for a school with a great education that will prepare me for the future and has a culture for success,” he stated. “Most importantly I want to enjoy the people I'm around and working with and feel at home.”

When ask if today’s visit to Army West Point matched up his prerequisites, Bollinger offered this response.

“I definitely felt that today at West Point,” shared Bollinger.

GoBlackKnights.com will continue to follow Bollinger’s recruiting throughout the summer, as well as his upcoming 2017 football campaign, so keep it right here.
