Outside linebacker prospect Zach Underwood took time out of his schedule to discuss last weekend’s official visit that he took to West Point.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder, who holds offers from Austin Peay, Georgia Southern, UT Martin, along with Army is out of Montgomery Catholic High School in Montgomery, Alabama.
“Yes this was my first time and the beautiful campus was amazing with the old architecture with an amazing view of the Hudson River,” shared Underwood, who was joined on his visit by his mother. “The brotherhood and energy also stood out to me.”
According to the linebacker, he and his mother were both pleasantly surprised by their visit to the academy.
“We were just talking about how good it was compared to how we thought it was going to be,” shared Underwood of his post-visit conversation with his mother.
Speaking of post-visit conversation, the linebacker indicated that he had the opportunity to chat with head coach Jeff Monken at the conclusion of his visit.
“We just kinda talked about life while at Army (West Point) and while on the team,” explained Underwood. “I’m not committed yet and I like Army a lot.”
“The visit 100% exceeded my expectations. The players are amazing and driven for greatness, the coaches know what they are talking about and they aren’t demeaning but they are demanding in a good way and the facilities are state of the art.”
Underwood stated that he wasn’t sure yet if he would be taking any other visits to schools and that he is looking to make his college decision by February.
