Nick Del Grande is an upcoming 6-foot-4, 260 pound offensive lineman out of Lancaster (PA) Lampeter Strasburg High School.
It was back in October (2020) that we first connected with Del Grande and at that time he had no offers, but was hearing from several programs.
To date, he has landed offers from Kent State, Navy, Central Michigan, UMass, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, UConn, but it was Army that kicked off the run of offers.
“I picked up my offer from Army West Point on the 14th of January,” shared Del Grande. “It was an awesome moment. They were my first offer, so it definitely holds a special spot in all of these offers. Coach John Loose was who I was in contact for a good amount of time and he recruited me. But it was Head Coach (Jeff) Monken who officially offered me though.”
The O-line prospect shared with GoBlackKnights.com that he is receiving plenty of attention various members of the coaching staff and each conversation is special.
“It’s hard to specify one,” he stated. “About four coaches keep in contact with me. Some daily and some weekly. The conversation I had with Coach Monken went amazing. He told me what he liked about me as a player and a person, and how they’re really pumped up about me. It felt really awesome to hear that from their coaching staff. My initial reaction to him offering was just it felt very surreal that I just received my first offer. Best feeling I’ve had in a long time.”
Next up for Del Grande was an opportunity to see West Point and the football facilities …. Virtually of course.
“I’ve visited them virtually and it was a beautiful campus,” declared the lineman. “You can’t beat it. It’s right on the Hudson River. The football facilities are awesome as well, but what really catches my eye is in the weight room the type of energy the players and coaches have. Just seems like a really good atmosphere.”
“I’m definitely interested in West Point. They offer high academics and great football. It’s hard to look past that. It’ll definitely be a school that I deeply consider.”
The All-State (4A-First Team) player currently holds a 3.053 GPA and had this to say relative to what he is looking for in a college program.
“I’m looking for a program that feels like home,” declared Del Grande. “I just want to go to a school that has a brotherhood with the players, and good academics. Finding the right fit with coaches, players, and campus is a huge part of my decision.”
GoBlackKnights.com will continue to follow Del Grande’s recruiting throughout the winter/spring and into his senior year, so keep it right here
