Army scored a victory this weekend as the coaching staff landed their 2nd commit out of Northshore High School Slidell (LA) within the past week as quarterback Walter Harris joined teammate and close friend Khalil Fleming as the latest prospect to offer up his verbal pledge for the Black Knights’ 2018 class.

The 6-foot-1, 190 pound true dual-threat QB shared with GoBlackKnights.com that the opportunity to play ball for the Army Black Knights, in conjunction with the West Point education was too much to pass up despite not having taken a visit the academy’s prestigious campus.

“I called Coach [Mike] Viti (fullback coach) from my house and told him I was committing,” shared Harris. “He asked why, and i told him I cant pass on the opportunity to play at such a high level and at such a prestigious institution.”

The quarterback readily admitted that making his decision at this is a weight off his shoulders and he can’t look forward to putting his attention to his upcoming senior season.

“It feels like Ii just took a breath of fresh air and I can just focus on my high school ball now,” stated Harris, who hope to make his way to West Point in the very near future.

“I’m trying to coordinate something with my buddy Khalil,” explained Harris and of course the Khalil who Harris is referring to his teammate and close friend Khalil Fleming, who himself recently committed to Army. “I’ve played football with him since I was young and he is one of my best friends.”

Fleming chimed in and confirmed his excitement relative to Harris’ pledge. “Yes indeed I was excited and so proud of him ... we are ready,” stated cornerback.

During his 2016 junior season, Harris passed for 1,100 pass yards and 9 touchdowns, while rushing for 470 yards and 6 TDs.

Harris is well aware of the Black Knights effective triple option offense, that was 2nd in the nation in rushing in 2016 and he feels that he has the tools to add value under center.

“My high school offense is based off the option game and every aspect of it has more than one read for me,” he stated.

Stay tuned as GoBlackKnights.com will have the breakdown of Walker’s commitment and the impact his pledge will have on this 2018 recruiting class, so keep it right here as we have you covered with all the latest.
