Well, yesterday evening and after several conversations with his family, the product out of Sayreville (NJ) Sayreville War Memorial High School made his college decision official and he will be attending Army West Point and wearing the Black & Gold of the Black Knights.

“Yes, My dad had some questions that Coach Wilt answered ... my dad enjoys talking to coach Wilt,” said Holmes of father’s pre-commitment conversation with Black Knights’ defensive line coach.

“Pretty much I said that after conversing with my family and weighing the options.

Coach [Jeff] Monken called to just talk some football and I took that opportunity to tell him the good news.”

“Coach Monken and Coach Wilt we’re very excited,” added the newest member of Army West Point’s 2019 football recruiting class. “I think I might’ve surprised them.”

Although Wilt has been the primary recruiter with regard to Holmes, this was clearly a coaching team effort, that the running back readily admitted.

“After Coach [Mike] Viti came in to my school [last Friday] and we talked about my future at West Point, as well from his own personal experience the opportunities there are life changing and I cant turn it down,” Holmes explained. “And my heart knew what was right and I just went with it.”

DETERMINING FACTORS

So, what were the factors that lead the talented athlete to extend his pledge to Army West Point?

“Same as always,” he bellowed. “The tradition, the education, the coaches and Army football. Hey, it’s West Point ... it’s an opportunity of a lifetime.”

GBK Analysis

At Sayreville War Memorial High School, Holmes plays on both sides of the ball and has been recruited for a variety of positions, depending on the program.

“Other schools had me in the slot,” he stated. “Some had me on defense. At Army I’m not sure where I will play, but with my speed and the triple option offense I think it’s a prefect match. Whatever I can do to contribute.

“With Kelvin Hopkins at QB you never know what the future holds at Army ... he can throw.”

We project that the student-athlete who maintains a 3.15 GPA will get his first look at the slotback position. He is tough, gritty, quick, faster than you think, and confident.

It still has not been determine if Holmes will be entering the academy via direct admission or the prep school.

Stay tuned as GoBlackKnights.com will have the breakdown of Holmes’ commitment and the impact his pledge will have on this 2019 recruiting class, so keep it right here as we have you covered with all the latest.
