DL Kwabena Bonsu invited to the Jacksonville Jaguars’ rookie mini-camp
Fans who aren’t overly familiar with Army Black Knights football, often associate the program’s success with the offense and more specifically the triple option, but also with the fact that Black Knights always have tough ball players on both sides of the ball.
But what should be truly notable is the level of talent that comes out of the program on the defensive side of the ball.
Currently, there are three former Black Knight defensive players (Jon Rhattigan, Seattle Seahawks; Cole Christensen, Kanas City Chiefs and Elijah Riley, Pittsburgh Steelers) who are on NFL rosters.
Continuing the defensive trend … this week we saw which OLB/DE Andre Carter sign with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent; safety Marquel Broughton headed to the Denver Broncos’ rookie mini-camp and now, defensive end Kwabena Bonsu has been invited to the Jacksonville Jaguars’ rookie mini-camp.
In 2022, Bonsu started his 5th year as a Black Knight with 1,249 total snaps in his 4 previous seasons. In the 2021 season, he had started all 13 games and had 481 snaps with a PFF rating of 57.3. Bonsu registered 31 total tackles, including 2.5 TFLs and 1.0 Sacks in 2021. In 2022 Kwabena Bonsu started 7 games at the boundary DE spot and accounted for 400 of the 771 defensive snaps, finished the season 8th on the team with 47 total tackles, including 4.5 TFLs and 2.5 Sacks.
