In March, we first reported on athlete Elijah Jones and he offer from Army West Point. And if you are keeping score, you will know that this talented player is out of New York’s Cardinal Hayes High School and more specifically the Bronx.

Yes, the same high school that brings to the Army program, 2017 QB commit, Christian Anderson.

Again, if you are keeping score, just last weekend, young Mr. Jones ‘blew it up’ at the Rivals 3-Stripe Camp held in Piscataway New Jersey where he was named

“I was nervous at first, but once I got into it, it just flowed,” Jones told GoBlackKnights.com in a manner of almost understating his performance where he competing strictly on the defensive side of the ball.

RIVALS ANALYSTS CAMP COMMENTS:

Recruiting wrap: Jones holds offers from Army, Boston College, Howard and Purdue.

Performance: One of the most impressive performances in a one-on-one setting was Jones intercepting passes on each of his first three reps and having the ball just deflect off his fingers on his fourth rep. The long and lean athlete prospect seemed to know where the ball was going before the quarterback even threw it. He still has some fundamental kinks to work out, but it is nothing that cannot be coached up. That ballhawk mentality, though, is uncoachable, and Jones definitely has it.

When it comes to the Army Black Knights, the product of New York says that he continues to have a solid relationship with the coaching staff, especially safety coach John Loose, who is handling his recruiting.

I spoke to him a couple weeks ago,” said Jones. “My phone broke, so I've lost contact with a lot of people ... but I will be at Lauren's 1st & Goal, which is a satellite camp run by Coach Loose as a fund raiser for his daughter. Coach Loose and I are good friends and have a mutual respect for each other.”

Jones, who was on campus last month for Army’s Junior Day and Spring Game, however it was an abbreviated visit that day.

“I left early for a family emergency, but it's a beautiful campus and I feel like the sports atmosphere is amazing,” declared the athlete, who stated that he has plans on returning ... very soon. “I’m trying to go in June.”

“Army will always be high for being my first offer ... that hold a lot of weight and I respect that,” Jones added. “And I can definitely fit in at safety or corner and I can be versatile for their defense.”

Jones readily admitted that his teammate and future Black Knight Christian Anderson has not put any pressure on him when it comes to him possibly joining forces at Army West Point.

“He brought it up a couple times, but he says its my decision and just wants whats best for me,” shared Jones, who says that along with Army, another northeast based school has his attention.

“Uconn is pretty big and I’m close with the coaches ... just good group,” he stated.

GoBlackKnights.com will continue to follow Jones’ recruiting throughout the spring/summer, as well as his upcoming 2017 football campaign, so keep it right here.
