The Black Knights have added another piece to their 2024 recruiting class in cornerback Khristian Turner.

When we assess Turner’s DB talents, he is physical, with good instincts, and anticipates routes really well. A welcome addition to what continues to be an impressive class.

The 5-foot-10, 180-pounder is out of Melissa (TX) Melissa High School, which was not the school he attended in 2022.

“I left McKinney because my parents wanted to move out of the city into a smaller and quieter community and found a home in Melissa,” he explained.

It didn’t take Turner too much time to transition into his newly found school, both academy and on the gridiron, as he closed out his senior season, he was named 1st Team All-State, 1st Team All-District, Academic All-State

In addition to football, he also runs track.

The Visit & Commitment

We asked Turner about his official visit (2/2) to West Point and what stood out to him during his time at the historic institution.

“Yes 1st time,” he confirmed. “What stood out was the rich history of the school, the great facilities. Also the attention to detail from the players and coaches, the dedication and drive from the players when working out, and the five-star hospitality. I am a family-oriented guy and the entire time everyone made me feel like I was already a part of the family. Also, the great conversations I had with the players about their experience at the Academy … a real brotherhood.”

“On my visit, that’s when I verbally committed … I committed to Coach Monken. Coach (Cody) Worley and Coach (Jeff) Monken came down to Texas to meet me in person after Worley.”

“Coach Monken was excited and when my dad and I walked out of his office several coaches including Coach Worley were waiting outside the door clapping and giving high fives … It was a great feeling,” Turner added.

The Army ‘D’ & Turner’s Talents

Turner did not hesitate to share his confidence level when it comes to ability to make the transition to Army’s 3-4 defense.

“I truly believe I’m a great fit for the program, because they play hard, aggressive, fast, and have a great attention to detail,” he declared. “I’ve been training for DB since I was 10 years old with well-known trainers like Clay Mack and Dijon Benton. I am also a very physical cornerback as many can see from my film.”

“The ball skills that Coach (Daryl) Dixon coaches and appreciates is also something I bring to the table, although I have a great deal more to learn and can’t wait to learn. The main deciding factor for me to flip my commitment from Oklahoma Baptist to West Point was my life and future after the game. This great Academy will position me for success in all areas of my life after the game of football is over.”

“Excited isn’t even the word. Beyond excited.”
