GBK Post-Practice (8/22) Video Interview: Frosh Modozie & Hammond
Both OLB Elo Modozie and CB Jaxon Hammond are two freshmen who we project to have promising careers wearing the Black & Gold of Army.
Modzie is part of the 2022 recruiting class, but made an initial pitstop at the USMAPS, for which he shares how beneficial that has been for him. While the speedster Hammond is part of the 2023 recruiting class and was a direct admit and arrived this summer.
When it comes to Elo, we are sure that the staff is looking for him to be more consistent as he continues to mature as a player. That, along with competition will most likely determine if he will make the two-deep, and hence make the travel team for the season opener on the road against ULM.
Currently, he’s battling for the third spot at Apache with two other players in juniors Josiah Banks and Chance Keith as they battle for the second spot behind Captain and Senior, Jimmy Ciarlo. Simply put, If he wins it he'll travel.
When it comes to Hammond, he still is getting acclimated, and of course, the experience and competition at corner is solid. From our perspective, he made need a little more time under his belt, but he has real potential as a player and his speed is a difference-maker.
In addition to his offer from Army, Hammond also held offers from Tennessee, Memphis, Buffalo, Mississippi State, Yale, UT Martin, UConn, Marshall, Austin Peay, and Arkansas State along with others.
With the 2023 season just around the corner, both plebe players chatted with GoBlackKnights.com after Tuesday’s practice as they provided us with both the transition into the academy and Army football, along with their current progress.
