Oh boy, it was a wild weekend for the Army Black Knights as the coaching staff hosted a number of official and unofficial visitors. At last count, there were five overall commitments.

One of those pledges came from Rivals 3-star prospect Jaxon Hammond, who currently holds twenty-five offers and who was joined on his OV by his dad, mom, and sister.

According to Hammond, this will be his final official visit, because he has found his collegiate home.

I don’t plan on making any other visits, because I don’t feel anything can top West Point,” said the 5-foot-11, 160-pounder. “I told Coach (Cortney) Braswell that I was all in during my official visit yesterday. Towards the end of my visit, Coach Braswell asked my family and I how we felt about West Point. I immediately told him that I wanted to play there and be a part of The Brotherhood. He was so excited and told me “welcome home.”

“The whole coaching staff erupted with smiles and laughs while hugging and congratulating me. Some of the players were there, and they all said welcome to the family.”

Connecting With HC Jeff Monken

According to Hammond, he also had the opportunity to connect with the Black Knights’ mentor, Head Coach Jeff Monken surrounding his commitment.

“I got a chance to talk with Coach Monken where he also expressed his excitement,” said an excited Hammond. “He also told me that the brotherhood got much stronger because of my decision.”

Connecting With The Army Football Brotherhood

Not to be left out, Hammond said that he had the opportunity to share some quality time with a few players who are currently on the Black Knights’ roster.

“Yes I did,” he declared. “I spent most of my time with Austin Hill. I used to play basketball with his little brother, and we are both from Memphis. I also spent time with Quindrelin Hammonds who is a DB and who looked out for me and made me feel at home.”

Deciding Factors

Hammond also shared with us what lead him to his commitment to the Army Black Knights of West Point.

“The deciding factor was that I have the opportunity to play big-time and Power-5 level football while also getting an Ivy League education,” declared Hammond, who currently holds a 4.88 GPA and will be a direct admit.

“It feels so relieving. I’m very happy with my choice, and it makes it easier to have full focus on my senior season.”

GBK Analysis:

The first thing that stands out is his speed. Hammond won the state 100 meters as a Sophomore and he came in 2nd this year as a junior Has run as low as 10.55 laser.

Defensively speaking, he has really good ball skills. He will need to develop physically but could be a factor in Army’s return game early on.
