Big OL Tyler Klambara locked in with Army West Point

Five days ago, GBK reported on Prospects are anxious for Saturday's upcoming game day visit to Army West Point as the Black Knights played host to UConn.

One of those scheduled visitors was offensive lineman Tyler Klambara, who would be making the trip with his parents, albeit returned visits for all. During the previous article, the product of Springfield (PA) had this to say.

“This will be my 4th time on campus,” he explained. “I’m really looking forward to experiencing the game day atmosphere. I also want to see how my parents feel about West Point as well. Also would like to see how the team reacts in game situations. This will be my 4th time on campus and their 2nd time … they went for Junior Day in April.”

Monday afternoon, big offensive line prospect reached out to GoBlackKnights.com to let us know that he had officially committed to the Army West Point.

“I have accepted Coach (John) Loose’s offer and committed to Army,” said the excited 6-foot-4, 300-pounder. “I decided to pick Army over Temple and Navy.

“I extended my commitment first to Coach John Loose last night over the phone. I originally wanted to do it after the game, but I had to leave early and then decided to wait a day before giving him my verbal.”

“I called him last night and he asked me how I liked game day and I told him that I am accepting his offer. He was very excited and so am I. There wasn’t any build-up to it in the conversation, I just flat-out told him.”

I haven’t had any conversation yet with Coach (John) Monken but I will later today. I gave my verbal at like 9pm EST or so last night so it was pretty late.

“The overall atmosphere of the academy fits really well for me,” he declared. “It’s going to be a challenge, it’s hard, but I believe I need to be challenged in college in order to be successful. Also I just really love the atmosphere amongst the coaches and the team is something I want to be a part of. I also have history of family in the Army. My grandpop was in the Army and I was really close to him. He passed away 7-years ago or so and I was very close with him so to continue the legacy while playing the sports I love is such a great opportunity.”

“I told Coach Loose yesterday that the win over UConn was a real good team win. Offense, defense, and special teams really played their butts off and it was a great win. The game-day atmosphere, the type of offense Army runs, It fits perfectly for me.”

Temple offered me a Preferred Walk-On (PWO) and Navy offered me a full scholarship,” Klambara explained. “I’ve gotten a lot of interest from FBS and FCS schools over the months, but Army has just been the best fit for me.”

As it appears right now, Klambara’s initial stop relative to the academy will be the USMAPS.

“I’m very excited about my decision to play for the Army Black Knights and attend West Point. I still have to go through with admissions and Army football staff has people that will be able to help me with it.”

By the way, Klambara is entering the academy as a dual-sport athlete. He will also be a track and field athlete for the Black Knights, where his primary events are discus and shotput.
