Black Knights get their man, as Myles Arterberry commits to Army West Point

Running back Myles Arterberry’s decision to commit to the Black Knights is one of the highlights of a recent hot recruiting run for Head Coach Jeff Monken and the Army football program.

Just when we thought the dust was settled from the weekend run of pledges, where the Black Knights pulled in several verbal commitments … there was one that the staff was anxiously waiting for.

Two days ago we reported that ‘It appears decision time drawing near for talented RB Myles Arterberry’.

From that article, the 5-foot-9, 180-pounder indicated that he was definitely leaning towards Army. And true to his word, yesterday the prospect who is out of Klein High School in Spring, Texas reached out to the Army coaching staff to extend his verbal commitment.

Arterberry breaks down his commitment to Army West Point

“Actually I decided to commit around two days ago and I texted Coach Monken that I was ready to make it happen,” Arterberry explained to GBK. “I told him that the culture and the program fit me and after prayer and a talk with my family that West Point was the way to go.”

“He congratulated me and said this 2023 class will be special and with me added to it we could do damage.”

The Driving Force

When it comes to making a college decision, there are so many variables that can cause a recruit to lean one way or another.

For Arterberry, he was able to breakdown the driving forces that lead to his decision to wear the Black & Gold of the Army Black Knights at West Point.

“The people by far … I could see myself in them and they could see the potential in me and that mixed with the support network around the academy led me to make my decision,” said a very proud Arterberry, who currently holds a 3.5 GPA.

According to the talented running back, he can officially put recruiting in his rearview mirror and concentrate on his senior season.

“It’s means the world to me,” he stated in reference to his college decision. “I wanted to have a clear head for the season and keep developing a relationship with the coaches, so I could be the best I could possibly be on the field.”

According to Arterberry, he has a watchful eye on what the Army staff has been doing relative to the quality of talent being added to the 2023 recruiting class.

“I think we can do something special,” stated Arterberry. “I see a lot of power guys that can lead this and be great people and teammates.”

The running back also recognizes how significant his decision to attend West Point is, and he said that he is humbly honored by the reaction from others when they learn where he will be attending college.

“People are amazed and congratulated me wherever I’ve gone,” explained Arterberry. “It’s truly an honor to have this opportunity and I will make the most out of it.”

And when it comes to his verbal pledge, the running back had these final words of encouragement to the coaching staff, fan base, and future Army teammates.

“It’s (commitment) solid as can be … when I’m locked I’m locked in,” firmly stated Arterberry.
