Class of 2015 Predicts ‘The Fight

Perhaps boxing doesn't have the same draw that it had in years past. Maybe the number of big name fighters and even those matches that would even have the non-boxing fan become an instant boxing fan. Yes, that type of interest is now a thing of the past ... at least from where we sit.
Remember those famous head to head matches like Ali-Frasier, Duran-Leonard, Hearns-Hagler and on and on they go.

Even to this day, you can still hear the voice of the late Howard Cosell bellowing, "Down goes Frasier, down goes Frasier, down goes Frasier" after Smokin Joe Frasier was on the receiving end of a MASSIVE uppercut from George Foreman that left the heavy champion, a champion no more.
Then who could forget the much anticipated match-up between Ali and Foreman, who many experts felt was invincible.
But on Saturday, there is the show-down fight between Floyd Mayweather & Manny Pacquiao, which is being labeled as the Battle for Greatness or some have called it The Fight of the Century.
Although both billings might be a stretch, the upcoming fight has caught the attention of so many, especially this current generation ... including many of the members of Army's 2015 incoming football recruiting class.
GoBlackKnights.com caught up with several of the future Black Knights to get their prediction on Saturday's contest.
"Pacquiao will win the fight, he throws twice as many punches as any other fighter so he's bound to land some clean ones," said incoming freshman running back, Tyler Campbell. "If Mayweather is going to win he will have to do it off of a knockout.
"I'm planning on watching the fight at a teammate's house with a couple seniors from the team," Campbell added.
For Rivals 3-star safety commit James Gibson, he's leaning towards the Mayweather camp. "He's winning with defense and counters. 47-0 .. can't be beat," declared Gibson, who said he will be viewing the fight at a friend's house.
For 6-foot-1, 300 pound offensive lineman Ethan Palelei, the grill will be sizzling as he takes in the fight. "A close friend home from the team is ordering it [fight] at their house and having a barbecue," explained Bishop Gorman product.
"Living in Vegas, everyone supports Mayweather," Palelei said. "But honestly, I'm hoping Pacquiao can break the infamous win streak."
For Julian Meares, his prediction ties directly into his football mentality, where defense wins games.
"I think Mayweather will win because oh his above average defense," shared the Rivals 2-star defensive end commit. "His mentality and you know what they say, defense wins championships. I haven't decided if I'm going to watch it but if I do I'll watch it at home."
Another Mayweather lean is Eric McAllister
"I am going to predict The Money Team aka Mayweather to pull out the win in an EARLY KO!," said a very exhuburent McAllister. "Floyd is a defensive fighter and Pacquiao is aggressive. But, through recent matches, Manny gets a little flustered when he gets hit back. Floyd is undefeated and I don't see his streak ending any time soon."
Cincinnati (Ohio) commit Jordan Asberry had this to say about Saturday's fight. "Floyd Mayweather ... he's undefeated for a reason and already beat Pacquiao," declared the running back, who offered this boxing logic. "And you can't go against the champ."
Big offensive line commit Jake Baumert has his own bit of boxing logic, that goes against the grain of many of the Mayweather predictors in this article.
"I think Pacquiao will win the fight because he is much more aggressive and if he catches Mayweather with a solid punch he will knock him out cold, and shut him up for once," voice the 6-foot-3, 290 pounder.
Like Baumert, running back Ryan Miller is hoping that come Saturday, Mayweather will see stars.
"I'll be watching the fight with friends out at the farm," said the Charlotte (N.C.) native. "I would really like to see Floyd Mayweather get his face pounded in. GO PACQUIAO!!"
"I believe Pacquiao will win," shared Tanner Sheffield. "Mayweather is a good fighter, but he has had some close calls. In my opinion, Pacquiao will seal the deal against him."
Offensive lineman Radson Jang had this to offer. "I am taking Pacquiao because everything he does is to glorify the name of the Lord, while Mayweather glorifies his own name," said the future Black Knight, who will be watching the event at his friend's house. "When God is for you, who can be against you?"
