Georgia Defensive End prospect high on the Army Black Knights

Army’s offer to Defensive End prospect Toby Thompson brought tears to his eyes
Army’s offer to Defensive End prospect Toby Thompson brought tears to his eyes

Army is my only offer for Toby Thompson, who is a 6-foot-4, 245 pounder out of Cherokee High School in Canton, Georgia, where he and his teammates went 8-3 in the fall.

The defensive end prospect had 97 tackles, 12 TFL, 4 Sacks, 21 pressures and 1 PBU during the campaign, which has also caught the attention of the Army Black Knights of West Point.

“I love the idea of Army though,” said Thompson, noting that it doesn’t matter how many offers he has or doesn’t have, Army West Point is special to him.

“I picked up my offer on March 22nd, they recruited me for about a week before and Coach Brent Davis offered me,” shared Thompson, whose only offer thus far is from Army.

“He (Davis) said that Head Coach (Jeff) Monken loved my film and so did the rest of staff and that I could be a great for either sides of the ball. I was the happiest I’ve ever been in my life. I started crying when the call ended.”

Even now, it is clear that Thompson has a strong draw to the staff, the academy and the Black Knights’ football program.

“I’ve been to a spring practice and saw videos of all the campus,” he stated, as he made reference to catching the action via FaceTime. “It’s a beautiful place and the stadium is sweet.”

“I love the idea of Army, the options after college and the military are endless. I’d love to play for the 3-4-4 and I think it’d be a great fit for me.”

GoBlackKnights.com will continue to follow Thompson’s recruiting throughout the spring, summer and of course his senior year, so keep it right here
