Anyone can purchase the gift (it doesn't require a login to buy) which results in a gift email sent to the recipient with a link that brings them to a simple sign-up flow (email/username/password only) to activate. If they already have an account for the selected site, then we tack the gift duration (which can be 1,3 or 6 months or 1-5 years) onto their subscription, so their next billing cycle will be that much further out.
