During our time without sports, especially Army Black Knights’ football, we are getting to know some of our GBK subscribers a little bit better. We've asked for them to tell us your story and we will feature a different one each week on the site, under the banner “GoBlackKnights.com Fan Features”.

Today, we get to know GBK subscriber Joe (aka jiacono). In his own words, here is his story about being a Army football fan:

“I was born in Wheeling, West Virginia and raised in Middlesex, New Jersey.,” shared jiacono, who went on to discuss how he became an Army football fan.

“Probably my senior. year in high school. By that time, West Point was my No. 1 college choice and I was in the application process. That 1988 team was great ... 9-3 and almost upset Bama in the Sun Bowl!”

The 1993 United States Military Academy at West Point graduate also shared with us his most memorable moment surrounding Army football.

“It was the 2016 victory over Navy to break the losing streak,” jiacono said proudly, as he recounted that special moment in Army football history. “I was in the stadium.”

He has been a subscriber to GBK since 2015 and is one of the most active, insightful and vocal fans on The 12th Knight Premium Message Board and he had this to add when it comes to being part of GBK community.

“Absolutely (glad to be part of the GBK fanbase)!,” he declared, as he went on to describe the vibe on the site. “Great debate and discussion with fellow Army fans; awesome interviews (Army coaches, current & former players); and probably most importantly, second to none recruiting coverage that you just can’t get anywhere else.”
