Larry Dixon named Independent Offensive Player of the Week

WEST POINT, N.Y.  - Army sophomore FB Larry Dixon has been named the Football Bowl Subdivision Offensive Player of the Week after his 136-yard, three-touchdown performance versus Northern Illinois.

Dixon scored three of Army's six rushing touchdowns on the day.
It was his first multi-touchdown game and the first time an Army player scored three times since Trent Steelman versus Northwestern last season. The game also marked Dixon's first career 100-yard rushing game.
 
The Bremerton, Wash., native was one of three Army players to run for 100 yards against the Huskies. It was the first time since the 1996 season that the Black Knights had at least three players reach the century mark. As a team, Army ran for 486 yards.
 
Through the first two games of the season, Dixon is Army' second-leading rusher with 170 yards and leads the team with three rushing scores. He is averaging 4.7 yards per carry.
 
Army will go for its first win of the season on Saturday when it travels to Wake Forest. Kickoff at BB&T Field is set for 12:30 p.m.
