GoBlackKnights.com caught up with linebacker commit Andon Thomas as he chimed in on his pledge to become a part of the Army Black Knights 2022 recruiting class.
Thomas has been on the Army recruiting radar for sometime now and it was back in early March that he was offered by Head Coach Jeff Monken, albeit his recruiting is being handled by fullback Coach Mike Viti.
This was followed by the linebacker’s unofficial visit to West Point on June 22nd.
“Everything about the campus was beautiful,” shared the product of Liberty Hill (Texas) Liberty Hill High School. “The history, buildings, and football facilities stood out to me during my visit.”
Last Thursday, Thomas informed GBK of what transpired relative to his commitment.
“I called Coach Viti and Coach Monken yesterday,” he stated. “They were both very excited about my commitment. The deciding factors that made me say yes were the high level of football, academics, tradition, leadership, the brotherhood, and the campus.”
And when it comes to the high level of academics and athletics, Thomas fits right in.
His current GPA is 102.11/100 and he will be a direct admit and is planning on going into pre-med. Athletically, he registered 161 total tackles, 3 interceptions, 24 tackles for loss, 5 sacks, 4 fumble recoveries, and 1 forced fumble during his 2020 junior football campaign.
