The old preacher once said, that sometimes it’s better to see a good sermon, than to hear one.

Yes, for most prospects/recruits, they have heard it all from coaches who contact them via text, DM, school visits, home visits, etc. But the proof is really in the pudding when those same recruits make their way to the campuses of programs that are recruiting them and have an opportunity to see the “sermon” up close and person. Yes, there is always the dog and pony show, but when they are able to talk directly to the current players, it really does hit home ... one way or the other.

Needless to say, the consistent theme from prospects taking their official visit to Army West Point this past weekend is the culture itself, the sincere coaching staff and the brotherhood amongst the players.

For Rivals 2-star cornerback prospect Jabari Moore, who has been noted in our reporting as one of the defensive targets for the Black Knights, being on campus this past weekend was the icing on the cake.

“Yes, it was nice beautiful campus, I loved the guys on the team that helped show me around and how everybody is a big family,” declared the recruit out of powerful Hoover High School in Hoover, Alabama

“I liked the culture that they are setting around there and the opportunities that everything brings.”

The 6-foot-0, 180 pounder went on to explain that being on his visit afforded him to also take advantage of getting to know the coaching staff a little better.

“I was around all of them a good bit, but I was mostly with Coach Young and Coach Monken, and on Friday was more of an academic tour day while Saturday was more football talking about the style of football they play,” Moore explained.

“The visit exceeded my expectations. I was not expecting the type of environment up there and the feeling of togetherness from everyone. I liked the weight room ... it looked new and impressive.”

DECISION TIME

For the talented corner, he didn’t need the additional time away from the official visit vibe to know that Army West Point is where he wants to be for the next four year.

“I verbally committed to Coach Monken and Coach CY before I left,” declared Moore, who made the trip with his parents and brother.

“Coach Monken was just asking me about my visit and how I liked it and I told him I fell in love with the place and wanted to commit. He was excited and fired up we told all the other coaches and they all came and congratulated me at dinner.”

Moore carries a 4.1 GPA and will be direct admit to the academy and a huge pick up for the Black Knights 2019 class.

Notable: With Moore’s commitment, look for the staff to bring in one more direct corner and one target is Tim Boone, who is physical for his size, a competitor, smart and savvy, who has special teams value.

Stay tuned as GoBlackKnights.com will have the breakdown of Moore’s commitment and the impact his pledge will have on this 2019 recruiting class, so keep it right here as we have you covered with all the latest.
